J A Nigeria's Run-A-Thon 2006
A Nigeria held the 6th annual Run-A-Thon fundraising program with the theme "Invest in the Kids, Invest in their Future". This 5 KM run/walk held on Saturday 1st April 2006 at the Law School car park by 7.30am. The event was declared open by the Managing Director of DMT mobile Toilets – Mr. Isaac Duro Agbetunsin.
There two BOD members in attendance at the event – Mr. Laoye Jaiyeola of Kakawa and Mrs. Mo Abudu of VLA. Other BOD member companies at the event were Dangote, Akintola Williams Deloitte Touche, Citibank, Chevron, De-United, Schlumberger, Bellview, Coca-Cola and Cadbury. While MTN foundation, Technocrime security, Accenture members of staff and LBS-AMP 18 class were also in attendance.
There were lots of food and drinks from the Indomine kitchen and Cadbury& Coca-cola for the participants. There also various gifts for the winners in the male & female and children category ranging from a weekend for two at Protea hotel, a bellview retun ticket, 6months membership at Funtopia, dinner for two at cactus to several packets of Dangote pasta & juice as well as cartons of Indomine as consolation prizes. The over 500 participants had fun and are looking forward to next years event. Almost 2 Million naira was raised at this years event.

Partnership with MTN Foundation:
JA Nigeria Partners with MTN Foundation School connect program to implement JA’s technology based programs “Globe” and “JA Titan”.
The first phase of the Globe program involving 12 schools across the country started in February. Queens College Lagos is leading in the program implementation with their partners Cuyahoga Falls High School, Ohio, U.S.
GLOBE is a cross cultural experience that teaches global economics and business, the students compete in an online business simulation or operate a joint-venture company with JA students in another state. It’s a hands-on application of global business.
JA Titan is an Interactive web base simulation teaching Critical Economics, Finance and Management decisions.
SUPPORT FROM CITIBANK FOUNDATION TO ATTEND 2006 WLC:
In appreciation of the progress of the work done by JA Nigeria on localization of the ESP and CP kits. The Citibank Foundation has given an additional $25,000 gift towards the implementation of the project.
ARTS & CRAFTS 2006:
Saturday May 27th 2006 is the date that has been set for this year’s Arts & Crafts competition for children which also coincides with the Children’s day. This year’s event has the theme: “Celebrating Christmas in my village” and the venue is Terra Kulture in V.I. The program promises to be interesting and fun filled with the participation of children from select primary schools. The selected drawings will be used as Christmas cards designs and we are looking unto BOD members for patronage
J A NIGERIA / LUFTHANSA ARTS COMPETITION 2006:
The 3rd Edition of this event which is sponsored by Lufthansa Airlines will hold on Saturday 3rd June 2006 at the Goethe Institute in V.I. Participants are 60 students from 10 select secondary schools were JA programs are run. The Theme for the Arts competition/ Exhibition is “2006 football world cup in Germany.” Prizes such as Computer sets, |
