Global Entrepreneurship Week
Dear Friends,
You are welcome to the first Junior Achievement Nigeria Entrepreneurship Awards. This event is borne out of the need to showcase the “Entrepreneurs of our Time” as selected by the 150,000 Junior Achievement students in over 14 locations across the country in celebration of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2008. The GEW is a worldwide initiative providing a great opportunity for highlighting what entrepreneurs are doing all over the world during the week of 17 23 of November 2008. Whilst this week maybe global in scope, it is still local at heart, from Lagos to Bamako, Johannesburg to Nairobi, London to Puerto Rico, Osaka to Melbourne, we are celebrating our successful entrepreneurs and encouraging the upcoming ones.
We know that entrepreneurs drive economic growth of communities, countries and various regions of the world. At Junior Achievement Nigeria our mission is to inspire, educate and develop future business leaders by helping them unleash their ideas in the various entrepreneurial programs and financial literacy taught in schools with the JA curriculum. Today we had about 25 schools with about 750 students undergoing the JA It's my Business program where skills such as analyzing information, brainstorming, creative thinking, critical thinking, deductive reasoning, money management etc were learnt.
In an increasingly competitive world, communities need more entrepreneurs to drive the economies of their countries. We all need to be involved in this project of a better tomorrow. The drive to nurture enterprise talent is a collective one that needs businesses, educators, government, voluntary organizations and the media to work together to make it a reality.
I Thank You All Our Awardees For Being Role Models And Beacons Of Light To The Younger Generation, Our Partners, Sponsors And Volunteers For Your Support All The Time And Our Ja Students Who Are Ever Willing To Learn And Be The Best.
Let Their Success Be Your Inspiration As We
